INTERWOOD TAIPEI 2008 Opening Ceremony - Remarks by Mr. Bill Hung, Chairman of Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Association (TWMA)

On behalf of the 270 members of Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry and the Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Association, I would like to extend my sincerest welcome to all of our distinguished guests from all over the world. This triennial Taipei International Woodworking Machinery and Supplies Show unfolds from July 4 and July 7, for a total of four days. This year, the number of exhibitors and scale of the show is at an all-time high, with a ten percent increase compared to the previous exhibition. The many major companies here profile the industry and underscore the growth and dynamism of the industry. This venue will go all out to show Taiwan's coveted position as the world's third largest exporter of woodworking machinery and products which have won global esteem. Buyers will see the best machinery and accessories Taiwan has to offer, as well as the latest and the most advanced automated machinery from all over the world. I hope everybody here will be able to learn something new from this event. Even though Taiwan's woodworking machinery industry is being affected by the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the US and the rise of the new woodworking machinery firms in China, our manufacturers still hold a vital niche in their respective areas and they will continue to develop high value-added products. It is their products that will make this show a success. We wish them the best in progressing their research, technology and service, and in building the “Made in Taiwan” label. I would like to thank all of you for coming. And please feel free to offer any suggestions you might have regarding this event. Have great success at INTERWOOD TAIPEI. Thank you.
